PHOTOS FOR STARTING A MODELING CAREER

Ever since I was elementary I love joining audition for modeling or for television. To participate in the audition an individual must submit photos to present themselves. I used to go to a studio for a photo which cost fifty pesos for two photos. I wanted to be in style so I wore a black sleeveless top and black zipped styled pants and rocking it!

The basic clothes that one could wear for audition for modeling is anything black or white. For television it is usually white or bright colors.

For audition for modeling there are modeling agencies that has their own photography session or VTR's. This one is from Mukha Models by Tim Fischer. I was wearing a black gothic dress (I was so into Goth Music those days) , a black ethnic necklace (which I really love) and a silver earrings. I can't remember if they have their own make up artist during that time, since this was taken around early 2000.

Put a subtle make-up

Subtle make up shows the features of the face more clearly. Specially on commercials they want a no make up, make up look or of possible no make up at all. However, some set cards or portfolio includes a full make up photos to showcase their flexibility in audition for modeling.

There is also a website known as the Model Mayhem where models can collaborate with Photographers or make up artist in the Philippines or other parts of the world. They even included other categories such as wardrobe stylist and etc.

Submit photo in plain background.

A plain background keeps the focus on the model rather than the view. If you want to submit an outdoor photo ensure that the model is still the focus or the model stands out. The model stands out either by her post, her fierce look or a lesser background.

Prepare a set of three photos, one close up, one half body and one whole body or submit a Set Card.

This is to show the best angle of the model's face, the shape of the body and how well you post or carry your clothes in your post.

Swimsuits are allowed but not nudes.

Modeling agencies might need models for catalogs, editorial, fashion show or pageant for a swimsuit product, pageant or a television show or movie.

Submit an extra photo for your talent, such as dancing, playing an instrument or sports

When submitting these kind of photos ensure to include the emotions in dancing, the muscles in sports and the message you want to convey when playing the instrument. There are agencies that are looking for specific talent that excels in a field such as dancing. This increases your chance of being cast to a commercial or television. It's not a must but a plus.
